Adding a Logo to Your QR Code

Overview

Adding a logo to your QR code is one of the most effective ways to reinforce brand recognition and build trust with the people scanning your codes. When someone sees a familiar logo in the center of a QR code, they are more likely to feel confident scanning it. QR Dex makes it straightforward to upload your logo and position it directly on your code.

This feature is available on all QR Dex plans.

How to Add a Logo

Follow these steps to add a logo to any QR code in your account:

  1. Open the QR code editor by creating a new QR code or editing an existing one from your dashboard.
  2. Scroll down to the Add an image or logo to the QR code section in the editor.
  3. Click the Choose File button to open the file picker.
  4. Select an image file from your device. PNG, JPG, and WEBP formats are accepted.
  5. Once uploaded, your logo will appear in the center of the QR code preview.
  6. Click Save QR Code to apply the changes.

Recommended Image Formats

For the best results when uploading a logo, keep these format recommendations in mind:

  • PNG is ideal because it supports transparent backgrounds, allowing your logo to blend seamlessly with the QR code.
  • JPG works well for logos with solid backgrounds or photographic elements.
  • Use a high-resolution image to ensure your logo looks crisp, especially when the QR code is printed at larger sizes.

Sizing and Placement Tips

Getting the size of your logo right is important. A logo that is too large can cover too many QR code modules and make the code difficult or impossible to scan. Here are some guidelines:

  • Keep your logo small, ideally covering no more than 20 to 30 percent of the total QR code area. QR codes have built-in error correction, but exceeding this range can push the limits of scannability.
  • Use simple logos with clean lines and minimal detail. Highly intricate logos may become hard to read at smaller sizes and can visually compete with the QR code pattern.
  • Maintain contrast between the logo and the QR code. If your QR code uses dark modules on a light background, make sure your logo does not blend into the surrounding pattern.
  • Center placement works best because QR codes are designed with redundancy concentrated in the outer regions. A centered logo interferes with the least critical data area.

Always Test Your QR Code

After adding or adjusting a logo, always scan your QR code with at least two different devices to confirm it works correctly. Test with both an iPhone and an Android phone if possible, and try scanning from different distances and angles. If you notice any scanning issues, try reducing the logo size or simplifying the image.
